The paper presents the results of the survey of innovative enterprises of Tomsk region to ascertain their needs for skilled workers and the problems in the current system of training for the six priority areas of science, technology and engineering, identified in the Concept of creation in Tomsk Oblast Center for Education, Research and Development. The analysis of the concerns expressed and the observations show the directions and examples of solutions to these problems.
