The article discloses the information about the institute and describes the main activities and developments of VNIIINSTRUMENT JSC, shows designed and built multi-functional automated research equipment for R & D in the field of machining of various materials. Particular attention is paid to the new direction - ultra precise topics (creation of complex domestic innovative solutions: development and manufacturing of ultra precise technological modules with CNC, ultra-high test equipment, special tools from super hard materials, special technological tooling for ultra precise diamond turning, milling and grinding of particularly precise critical parts from hard materials with form precision of P-V < 100 nm and optical surface quality of Ra £ 5 nm.) The article describes peculiarities of ultra precise machining, components and technologies, fields of use for the technology and equipment, implementation of ultra precise machining by VNII INSTRUMENT JSC, characteristics, features and possibilities of the created equipment.
