Risk mitigation of technology projects in industry through patent analytics

The article is focused on the use of patent analytics as a systemic tool for reducing uncertainty and risk management in technological projects of the Russian industry. Based on the analysis of scientific and industry literature, the author classifies relevant risks (technical, market, organizational, legal) and formulates management objectives, the achievement of which is facilitated by in-depth analysis of patent information. The key contribution of the paper is the development of a methodology for formulating research questions that meet five criteria: problem-oriented, reliance on measurable data, relevance to management functions, hierarchical detailing, and open formulation of questions. A generic matrix of questions for each risk group is presented, allowing for consistent refinement of strategic decisions, from market selection and production concepts to patent strategy and exclusive rights control

Keywords: патентная аналитика, управление рисками, технологические проекты, снижение неопределенности, коммерциализация технологий.
