Higher education modernization new instruments: sustainable development principles implementation

This study continues the series of articles devoted to modern tools for the modernization of higher education, which was developed at the Nizhny Novgorod state technical university n. a. R. E. Alekseev (NSTU). As an introduction, the authors consider topical issues related to sustainable development. An overview of scientific research on sustainable development issues is given, as well as a section related to the description of theoretical and practical issues of implementing the principles of sustainable development in Russian universities. It is shown that patriotism, as a key element of personality education, is becoming a moral basis for the implementation of programs for the sustainable development of Russian society, which is becoming increasingly important in the current geopolitical situation. The analysis of the compliance of the universal competencies of bachelors adopted in the Federal State Educational Standard 3++ with the goals of sustainable development of Russia was carried out, as a result of which their partial discrepancy was revealed. The author's approach to the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the practice of university activities is described on the example of NSTU. In particular, the structure of the Center for Sustainable Development and ESG Transformation is given. As part of the educational activities of the Center, the experience of implementing the program of additional professional education «Sustainable Development and ESG-transformation» developed as part of the program of the Advanced Engineering School is presented. As part of publishing activities, the VAK journal and preprints based on the results of scientific research are published. The area of scientific activity of the Center includes solving the problems of sustainable development at different levels. The Russian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were updated. It is proposed to expand the list of universal competencies of bachelors in accordance with the SDRR, which can be formed as a result of the development of newly introduced disciplines: «Fundamentals of Russian statehood», «Basic military training», «Fundamentals of financial literacy», «DNA of Russia».

Keywords: sustainable development, ESG transformation, universal competencies, patriotic education, goals of sustainable development in Russia.
