The paper outlines how the dynamics of economic systems is dependent on their transition to a collaborative model of producing innovations at the level of network communities, whose participants form ecosystems of sustainable interactions. It highlights the advantages of the ecosystem approach in innovation policy, the difference between innovation clusters and other types of networks, as well as the role of Triple Helix interactions in achieving macroeconomic sustainability. At this background the author reveals institutional faults of the Russian economy, attributing its ongoing stagnation to the growth of internal entropy.
