Patent Statistics as a Measuring Instrument for Science and Innovation Economy in Russian Regions
The article summarizes the methodological and empirical results of the study of patent documents in the Far-Eastern Federal District. The author justifies the value of patent statistics as a measure of economy of science, technology and innovation in the Russian regions. Characteristics of problems and limitations of meaningful interpretation of patent statistics with account of the specificity of the socioeconomic development of depressed and underdeveloped regions of the country are given.
