Making managerial decisions: causes of mistakes

This article is based on the survey, which was conducted among top managers of the Russian companies. The questionnaires included the following questions: 1. What is the most serious managerial mistake you have ever made? 2. What were the consequences of this mistake? 3. What actions could be taken in order to: avoid this mistake; mitigate (or prevent) its consequences. After processing and analyzing questionnaires the most significant and frequent managerial errors have been presented. Reasons for these mistakes have been analyzed and approaches to building error management systems in companies have been determined
