The article analyzes the problematic issues associated with the increased needs of the labor market for highly qualified engineering specialists, in the
context of the practical skills and other competencies they acquire during their education in technical universities of the country. A new approach is proposed
to enhance the practical orientation of the training of engineering specialists, based on the formation of horizontal links between university professors and
specialists from industrial enterprises
