The article shows the experience of applying a competent approach to identify unique technological competencies in the enterprise of JSC «Institute «Signal» in the field of ground robotics. Employees of the enterprise, together with the specialists of the center for open innovations of State Corporation «Rostec», analyzed the knowledge, skills and abilities of the team of specialists-developers of the robotic direction of the enterprise. On the basis of this, a description of the unique technological competence of this team was identified and formulated. A product-leader was identified, its technical characteristics have a level of global competitiveness. Based on this, high level unique technological competence was formulated as «development and production of sets of mounted and embedded equipment for robotization of mobile objects». The article shows multilevel descriptions of this competence including «productive» and «processive», provides examples of its diversification and gives a plan of commercialization of the identified competence
