The role of innovation in improving competitiveness of the region
The subject of the research is the competitiveness of the region and the role of innovation in improving competitiveness of the region. It proved that in the conditions of sustainable development, the region’s competitiveness should be considered as a socioecological-economic category. The evaluation of real, potential, integral competitiveness of regions of the Republic of Belarus and of the North-West federal district of the Russian Federation has been done. Also this article deals with the main trends improving competitiveness of the regions through regional innovative development which should be considered in developing the strategy for social-economic development of the region
